Der Lygodactylus williamsi lebt in Tansania und kommt endemisch im Naturreservat des Kimboza-Forest in einer Höhe von 350 Meter über dem Meer vor. Endemisch bedeutet das er nur in ein gebiet vor kommt. Die Art bevorzugt ein halbfeuchtes bis trockenes Klima. Das sind Tagestemperaturen von 25–32 Grad Celsius und eine Nachttemperatur von 18–22 Grad Celsius. Die Luftfeuchtigkeit liegt bei 50-65 % tagsüber und 65–80 % nachts. Die Tiere sind Palmbewohner und leben ausschließlich auf Schraubenbäumen (Pandanus) in der Wildnis.Der Lygodactylus williamsi ist besonders hungrig nach Sonne. Der Gecko bekommt nur bei der Richtigen Wärme und den Richtigen Licht seine schöne Farbenpracht. Ausserdem ist es eine sehr Aufgeweckte Art!
